David Pleydell-Bouverie devoted his private ranch to the preservation of the wild creatures that lived there and the education of school children about the natural world. He asked me to create a sculpture depicting some of the most common citizens of the ranch. His house was being regularly raided by raccoons at the time so they seemed very common. There are also red bellied newts, Dusky footed wood rats, Monarch butterfly, and lets not forget the poison oak.
